CLOVIS, CA (MPG) - Cordova senior Faauiga Toele represented the Lancers' track and field team at the CIF State Championship meet this past Friday and Saturday, May 24-25, at Buchanan High School in Clovis, CA.

Last Friday, Toele participated in the shot put prelims, where she put forth a mark of 40' 1.75", which was good for a 17th place ranking in the prelims. That did not earn Toele a spot in the finals, but to qualify for the State Championship meet is a great accomplishment for the four-year field athlete.

Her performance in the State Championship meet comes on the heels of a second-place finish in the shot put a week prior within the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Masters meet, where she put forth a 41' 5" toss. Earlier this season, Toele recorded a personal-record in the shot put with a mark of 44' 9.5", at the Glenn Poole Invitational Track and Field Meet on April 6.

Toele also participated in the discus events throughout her time at Cordova. This season, she set her own personal record in the discus with a throw of 111' 7", at the aforementioned Glenn Poole Invitational.

Cordova will take part in their final meet of the season this Saturday, June 1, at the Golden West Invitational at Oak Ridge High School in El Dorado Hills, CA.
