300-Plus Volunteers Make Spring Service Day Successful

RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - The day started with lively music and high-energy performances as more than 300 volunteers gathered at Rancho Cordova City Hall for the inaugural Spring Service Day on Saturday, May 18.
The City of Rancho Cordova, Rancho Cordova In Action, community partners and volunteers put their unique skills to work at 15 different project sites to enhance the Rancho Cordova community.
“Rancho Cordova is known for its civic spirit and for having residents that actively engage in volunteerism,” said Mayor David M. Sander, Ph.D. “We are grateful for successful partnerships with Rancho Cordova In Action, our partnering organizations and sponsors who made Spring Service Day possible.”
Projects included a shred and e-waste event, a pet vaccine clinic, making home repairs for residents, book cleaning, landscaping at the Rancho Cordova Youth Center and community art projects. Volunteers also sorted donations, packaged food items and hygiene kits for distribution.
Rancho Cordova Spring Service Day Impact includes:
1,200 hygiene kits collected
496 books donated
20 new trees planted at Sandpiper Park and Kavala Ranch Park
2,120 food items collected totaling 530 bags of food for distribution
50 boxes of diapers and 50 packs of baby wipes donated
500 pounds of trash and debris removed from three different creek and wetland sites
14 garden beds built at the Neil Orchard Senior Center
900 bags of mulch laid at Cordova Gardens Elementary School
“Thank you to so many people who helped make Saturday’s Spring Service Day a success. It’s hard to express just how grateful I am because without your efforts, we wouldn’t have been able to provide such amazing services to our community,” said Lorianne Carl, Community Engagement manager.
