RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - Rancho Cordova residents are preparing for an evening of community bonding and fun as the City of Rancho Cordova and Rancho Cordova Police Department (RCPD) invite everyone to join the National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 6. It promises to be an opportunity for neighbors to meet, enjoy food, and have fun together.

“Rancho Cordova Night Out is one of my favorite days of the year. It brings out hundreds of neighbors who meet each other, share a meal and build their community,” said Mayor David Sander, Ph.D. “The strongest neighborhoods are those where neighbors know each other, watch out for each other, and help each other.  That's the fundamental benefit of living in a city, and the responsibility of everyone in our democracy and I encourage everyone in Rancho Cordova to attend their local Neighborhood Night Out.”

This annual event aims to strengthen ties between the community and law enforcement, fostering relationships and promoting neighborhood watch programs.

National Night Out is celebrated across thousands of communities nationwide, and Rancho Cordova is proud to be a part of this initiative.

“National Night Out offers our community an excellent opportunity to strengthen our relationships not only with the Rancho Cordova Police Department but also with the dedicated staff at City Hall. This evening allows city staff, leadership, and council members to visit various community gatherings, fostering meaningful interactions with individual residents,” said Rancho Cordova City Manager Micah Runner. “It provides a unique chance for the community to engage with us in ways that are not typically possible, promoting stronger connections and a deeper sense of community.”

If you're hosting a neighborhood party, don't forget to request a visit from the Rancho Cordova Police Department and city officials by completing the form at ranchocordovapd.com by 9 p.m. Friday, July 26.

“This event is more than just a night of fun. National Night Out provides a vital opportunity for us to build trust and strengthen the bonds between law enforcement and the residents we serve,” said Rancho Cordova Police Chief Matt Tamayo. “This year, community members in several of our neighborhoods will be hosting barbecues, potlucks and block parties, which myself and Rancho Cordova Police Department officers will be attending throughout the evening. These efforts are all aimed at fostering a sense of unity and collaboration, which are essential for maintaining a safe and vibrant community.”
