RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - A new park is opening in Rancho Cordova.

From 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 24, the Cordova Recreation and Park District (CRPD), in partnership with K. Hovnanian Homes, will celebrate the grand opening of Aura Park, Rancho Cordova’s newest addition.

The event will kick off with a ribbon cutting introducing the public to the new park. Following that will be a Family Fun Day, complete with lawn games, ice cream vendors and fun activities, according to Cordova Recreation and Park District.

Aura Park is a 2.19-acre neighborhood park located in The Ranch development, east of Rancho Cordova Parkway and north of Chrysanthy Boulevard, according to the Cordova Recreation and Park District website.

“The design of the park includes play equipment, a shade shelter for picnics, a half basketball court, meandering walking paths, and landscaping. The park theme is nature-oriented and includes animal prints stamped into walkway concrete, interpretive signage, and a nature-based color palette. The design uses drought-tolerant vegetation, cobbles, and boulders to reduce water use and maintenance,” according to the Cordova Recreation and Park District.

“When a new park opens up, the neighborhood comes to life,” said Rick Sloan, vice chair of the Cordova Recreation and Park District.

“It’s a place where new friends and memories are made. A park is the heart of the neighborhood,” he added.

Aura Park is located at 12164 Coal Creek Way, Rancho Cordova.
