Soroptimists Receive Proclamation, Celebrate 15 Years

RANCHO CORDOVA/CARMICHAEL, CA (MPG) - Rancho Cordova Mayor David Sander presented the Soroptimist International of Rancho Cordova/Gold River Club with a proclamation honoring their 15-year anniversary and service to the Rancho Cordova area at the Aug. 5 City Council meeting. The proclamation celebrated the club’s achievements in helping the community’s at-risk women and students over its 15-year history.
The Rancho Cordova/Gold River Club serves the Rancho Cordova/Carmichael area.
Since the Rancho Cordova/Gold River club’s founding in 2009, club members have helped more than 1,800 Folsom Cordova Unified School District students, provided Comfort Kits to more than 1,500 domestic violence/sexual assault survivors, presented a total of more than $30,000 in cash awards to 30 head of household women trying to finish higher education or professional certification, and have hosted two human trafficking awareness and education events to the public with plans to offer a third next year in January.
“We have grown to be a vital community partner to so many and are incredibly proud of where we are today. Since our inception, we’ve changed and improved the lives of over 4,500-plus local women and girls,” said Soroptimist International of Rancho Cordova and Gold River Vice-President Sheryl Longsworth.
Soroptimist International of Rancho Cordova & Gold River will celebrate its 15th anniversary of dedicated service to the community at a birthday bash from 1 to 3 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Mills Arts & Culture Center (MACC) in Rancho Cordova, located at 10191 Mills Station Road.
The Sept. 7 celebration will highlight the achievements of Soroptimist and its awardees, fostering fellowship and fun. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet past award recipients, connect with members and partners, enjoy enjoy appetizers and cake and win raffle prizes. RSVP at https://guestli.st/780258.
Soroptimist is an international nonprofit organization that seeks to improve the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment. The name, Soroptimist, means "best for women," and that's what the organization strives to achieve.
