RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - The Cordova Lancer football team held their post-season awards banquet on Thursday, November 30th at the Hagan Park Community Building. Both the varsity and junior varsity teams were handed out their letters for participating in the 2023-24 Greater Sacramento League season. The varsity ended their season with an overall record of 4-6 and a league record of 3-2.   The junior varsity finished with an overall record of 3-5 and a league record of 3-1.

First time Head Coach John “JP” Dolliver and his coaching staff handed out the team letters and awards as parents and family members watched. Ten athletes were selected by the Greater Sacramento League coaches to receive All-League honors. Six athletes were voted as 1st Team All-League and four players were selected to the 2nd All-League team. 1st team honors went to sophomore Julian Drahn, senior Nezziah Poole-alston, senior Jayden Ryce, senior Jabari Davis, sophomore Anthony Gomez and sophomore Damajae Moses.

2nd team All-League honors went to junior Armani Curtis, junior Elijah Wallace, junior Orlando Gomez and senior Michael Brown.

With six of the honored athletes returning next year along with ten other varsity players, the Lancers will have a seasoned roster as they move back into the more competitive Metro League.  All of the Cordova coaches, faculty, family members and myself wish the seniors good luck as they move onto their next challenges after graduation in May of 2024. Some will compete at the next level while some will be hanging up their football cleats to focus on their chosen academic fields.

Also, a special thanks goes out to assistant coach Krista Mayfield and all the parent volunteers that helped make this season a success. See you next season.
