Our furry friends need your help! The City of Rancho Cordova is sponsoring a yearly collection for our four-legged friends in need this holiday season.

The City is accepting unopened cat or dog food, gently-used towels and blankets, peanut butter, leashes and collars, new pet toys, and much more. The items collected will be donated to the Sacramento Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA).

Items can be dropped off at Rancho Cordova City Hall, 2729 Prospect Park Drive, and the Neighborhood Services Center, 2880 Gold Tailings Court, through Thursday, Dec. 17th during regular business hours.

“There are so many pets waiting to be adopted in our local shelter,” said City Accounting Technician Jessica Crone. “They need our support too. We thank you for remembering them this holiday season and providing much needed items that will help them be happy and healthy pets.”

The holiday drive was started in 2009 and originally named Rio’s Pet Outreach in honor of Crone’s American Pit Bull Terrier.

“Sadly Rio passed away in 2011, but we continue the name in his memory,” said Crone.

For more information about the project or to find out about other items on the SSPCA wish list, please call (916) 851-8770.
