The City of Rancho Cordova is requesting proposals from talented artists to add a mural to a new wall in the City of Rancho Cordova. The new mural will add beauty and a sense of place along the busy Folsom Boulevard corridor and would be seen by thousands of people that walk or drive by. The City is looking for a visionary artist to create a piece that will become a part of Rancho Cordova history.

Location of work to be performed: North side of Folsom Boulevard east of Los Nogales Way on a 6-foot tall masonry wall. The masonry wall is to be constructed by a civil contractor per separate contract.

Dimension of the piece: Approximately 5 feet tall by 20 to 30 feet wide. Open to suggestions from the artist.

General concepts for piece: Initial concepts include Lincoln Memorial Highway theme, history of Folsom Boulevard, or other vision suggested by the artist.

Work timeline and deadline: We expect the mural to be completed summer of 2016, after the wall is completed by separate contractor. Please include approximate days to complete your work in your proposal.

Team members: Include names of all members of your team and their experience. Include a portfolio of previously completed work including photo, finished dimensions, date, and location.

Media: We are open to various forms of media including paint, tile mosaic, or other artist suggested media.

Requirement to submit a sketch: Artist shall include a sketch of the proposed mural and total project cost to the City.

Insurance: Insurance is not required to submit a proposal. However, prior to entering into a formal contract and commencing work, the selected artist will be required to obtain insurance to the satisfaction of the City. The City will compensate the artist for the reasonable cost of the insurance policy.

Contract provisions, including supplies and compensation details, etc.: The artist’s proposal shall include all costs and incidentals necessary to complete the mural including, but not limited to: time, materials, etc. Prior to commencing the work, the artist shall enter into the City’s standard contract. Please contact Travis Evans at (916) 851-8906 or [email protected] to review the contract or for any questions. Upon completion, the mural would be fully released to the City.

Complete proposal must be received by Travis Evans at the City of Rancho Cordova, 2729 Prospect Park Drive, Rancho Cordova, CA 95670 by 5:00 PM on April 29th, 2016. Proposals may be submitted via email to [email protected], in the mail, or hand delivered to City Hall.
