When it comes to high school boys soccer tournaments, teams are expected to play three or more games.
That wasn’t the case for the Cordova High School boys soccer team toward the end of last week.
Competing at the Del Campo Tournament, which consisted of 12 teams, the Lancers and teams in the tourney played only two games each. That was because of field conditions of fields that the tourney was being held, due to last week’s rainstorms, each team was restricted to the minimal games.
Cordova finished the tourney with two losses. On Dec. 17th, Cordova fell to Johansen of Modesto, 1-0.
“It was a very tough tournament for us,” said Cordova head coach Eric Mc Cahon.
The Lancers’ first game of the tourney was against Christian Brothers. That contest ended with the Falcons flying to a 1-0 win on Dec. 16th.
The two losses didn’t damper the Lancers, who continued their pre-season schedule after the start of the New Year.
“I thought we had a real good weekend,” Mc Cahon said.
On Tuesday, Jan. 3rd, Cordova returns to action with hosting a double-header with the Cordova High School varsity girls soccer team. Both Lancer squads will host Laguna Creek of Elk Grove at Lancer Stadium.
Then on Thursday, Jan. 5th, the Lancer boys face Christian Brothers again, also at Lancers Stadium.
