Today, Friday, wraps up the third and final day of the 41st annual Cordova Christmas Classic at Lancers Gym.

The Cordova High School boys basketball team, along with seven area squads, opened action in the tourney on Wednesday. The Lancers hosted Ben Holt Academy in the first round.

The rest of the teams competing at the tourney are Inderkum, Center, Rosemont, Grant, American Canyon and Chavez of Stockton. Cordova and Rosemont are rivals in the Sierra Valley Conference.

If Cordova beat Ben Holt Academy, it played the Center-Inderkum winner yesterday, Thursday. Game times for today are 3 p.m. for seventh place, 4:30 p.m. for the consolation title, 6 p.m. for third place and 7:30 p.m. the championship game.

Cordova (4-7) has lost most of its non-conference games by less than 10 points. Head coach Fletcher Johnson said prior to the tourney that he’s looking for his squad to turn their fortunes around in the win column, but knowing they are facing tough teams in the tourney.

“Most of those teams are playing real good basketball,” Johnson said. “Inderkum (7-2) is playing real well.”

Before the start of SVC action in two weeks, Cordova will play another pre-season game against Napa, also at Lancers Gym, next Tuesday.
