In its final non-league game of the season, the Cordova High School boys basketball team fell to Antelope 62-59 on Jan. 5th.

Hosting the game at Lancers Gym, Cordova (7-9) jumped out to a 20-15 first quarter lead. But the second quarter seemed to become the difference for the Lancers, who were held to only nine points. That gave Antelope a slim 31-29 halftime lead.

The visiting Titans would expand their advantage in the third quarter, 20-10, which led to a 51-39 lead. The Lancers were able to outscore the Titans, 20-13, in the final eight minutes of the game, but fell short of the win.

Sierra Valley Conference

Today, Friday, at 7 p.m., Cordova and the rest of the SVC will open action at Lancers Gym. That’s when Rosemont makes a visit.

Last season, Cordova lost only two conference games – both to defending champion Liberty Ranch, which went undefeated in the regular season at 27-0. This season, the Hawks are 11-6. Liberty Ranch and Rosemont are the only two SVC teams that have winning records.

Then the Lancers continue conference play next Tuesday when they welcome El Dorado, which won its last two non-league games. Next Friday, Jan. 13th, Cordova hits the road to play at Galt. Both games begin at 7 p.m.
