Rancho Cordova Civic Light Orchestra Presents "Pops in the Plaza"
May 11, 2018 12:00AM ● By By MPG StaffRANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - KP International and the Rancho Cordova Civic Light Orchestra present “Pops in the Plaza.” Conductor Pete Nowlen will lead the Civic Light Orchestra on Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 4-6pm in the Koreana International Marketplace Food Court.
The orchestra will feature: Overture from Gilbert and Sullivan’s Mikado, Leonard Berstein’s West Side Story Overture, George Gershwin’s An American in Paris, Star Trek Through the Years, Lord of the Rings, Dark Knight Rises and Chicago.
The mission of the Rancho Cordova Civic Light Orchestra is to entertain and educate community audiences by providing high quality musical performances consisting of well-known but now infrequently performed works, or new musical works developed collaboratively with regional musicians.
Conductor Peter Nowlen is a Sacramento State horn instructor. He has been a member of the faculty since 1990. Mr. Nowlen was a member of the French horn section of the Sacramento Symphony from 1987 until 1996. He is an active orchestral and chamber musician and an international solo prize winner.
Orchestral conducting credits include the Sacramento Symphony, UCD Symphony Orchestra, CSUS Symphony Orchestra and the Music in the Mountains Orchestra. Pete has directed the concert band at U.C. Davis since 2002 and Fall Quarter Wind Ensemble since 1993.
