RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - RCPD is proud to announce that crime is decreasing in Rancho Cordova. Per the FBI Uniform Crime Reporting and when adjusted for population, violent crime and property crime combined in the City of Rancho Cordova dropped by 21.9% from 2014-2018, the lowest since 2011. During that same time period, violent crime decreased by 10% and property crime decreased by 15.7%.
This significant decrease can be attributed to RCPD's proactive policing programs, community policing model of building relationships with our community, and our residents and businesses taking an active role to prevent crime. Here are some examples:
Our Crime Suppression Unit, a highly visible and proactive team that focuses on enforcement by using crime data, trends and tips from residents;
Our Problem Oriented Policing Unit, a team of officers assigned to areas throughout Rancho Cordova to improve quality of life;
Our Crime Analysis and Prevention Unit, a team that partners with our community to prevent crime through proactive programs, and monitors and responds to crime data.
