Local baseball legend Randy Lerch shares his story of addiction and recovery in his book, God in the Bullpen.
RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - Former Cordova Lancer, Randy Lerch who was recently inducted into the Sacramento Sports Hall of Fame will be discussing his new book, God in the Bullpen: The Randy Lerch Story on the virtual Crowdcast Platform on Saturday, June 6th at 3 pm.
Barry M. Bloom a writer for Forbes said… “God in the Bullpen is perhaps the greatest tell-all baseball book since the late Jim Bouton wrote ‘Ball Four’ in 1970”.
In God in the Bullpen, Lerch tells his own story of addiction from what baseball players colloquially call “greenies” to alcoholism to cocaine that nearly blew out his liver and cost him his life. It was only then he gained control, stopped drinking, and is finally healthy now at the age of 65.
God in the Bullpen is a harrowing tale of how easily one can lose a promising career and is certainly germane today in this time of the coronavirus when many people are self-isolating, confronted by their own bad habits and foibles. Lerch tells the story because he doesn’t want youngsters now to make the same mistake.
Be sure to tune in and hear Randy’s story first-hand from the man himself. Randy will be in conversation with California Capital Film Office, Executive Director, Ricky Borba.
This event is free although we do encourage you to purchase a personally signed copy of Randy’s book.
