It has been my distinct honor and pleasure to serve the City of Rancho Cordova, its residents, businesses, and community partners for nearly 20 years – and the past seven of those years as City Manager. I was one of the first employees when the city incorporated in 2003 and also served as Chief Building Official and Public Works Director before becoming City Manager.

As I reflect upon the past 20 years, I am amazed at what we have been able to accomplish together. We’ve created new communities and neighborhoods, built a City Hall and police station, renovated a historic cemetery, created a center for arts and culture, invested hundreds of millions of dollars in infrastructure, built a youth center, created an award-winning housing project for homeless and disabled veterans, and attracted hundreds of new businesses and thousands of jobs, including a recent announcement that Solidigm will bring 1,900 high-paying tech jobs to Rancho Cordova.

In addition to many successful projects, the city is financially healthy. We continue to acquire properties and plan significant community projects like Mills Crossing, a $100 million public-private partnership that will create a civic amenity in the heart of the city. The City will also be building an iconic pedestrian/bicycle overcrossing on Highway 50 at Zinfandel Interchange.  We have assisted businesses with economic recovery programs and created an opportunity for residents to train for jobs through the city’s workforce development program. We continue to build and nurture collaborative relationships with other agencies and nonprofit organizations to make the city even stronger.

As I prepare to move into the next chapter of my life, I have been deeply touched by the outpouring of support and encouragement from the City Council and community. I look forward to spending more time with my family, traveling, volunteering and learning new things. The past 20 years have been the best of my career. The city has a solid foundation with dedicated staff and strong leadership.  It has been my absolute honor and privilege to serve the community I care for deeply. Together, we have accomplished so much, and the future will continue to be bright for Rancho Cordova.

Sincerely,
Cyrus Abhar
City Manager
