RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - Rancho Cordova’s newest MMA phenom and Apex Predator MMA student, Victor Doering, got his first taste of competition at the BJJ Tour Silicon Valley tournament on May 6th, 2023, at Woodside High School taking 3rd out of 15 competitors in his division.
Doering dominated his opponents in the early rounds of the tournament putting on a clinic with Judo throws and winning by submission twice before ultimately advancing to the final. The final match didn’t come without controversy as there was a miscue with the scorers table reflecting the wrong point total on the score board. Following what was otherwise another dominant performance from Doering the crowd was in disbelief when his opponent’s hand was raised in victory. This tournament, however, set the stage for his pro-am debut at the Primal Fighting Championship cage fight event to be held at the Win River Casino in Redding, Calif., on July 15th.
Rudy Vidaurri, Apex Predator’s owner and head coach, was ecstatic after watching his prodigy dismantle his opponents with techniques and submissions he’s instilled in Doering over the last few months since signing up with Team Predator. Vidaurri, who recently won “The Best Of Rancho Cordova Award” in the category of Martial Arts Club for the second consecutive year sees Doering’s potential, even in a sample size, and feels that the sky is the limit.
“I’ve been around and trained with some of the best fighters in the world during my career in this sport”, said Vidaurri. “Victor has rare athletic ability and an elite skill set to compete at the highest level. We want to take this thing as far as we can so that Rancho Cordova can have a contender made champion in the 155 division.”
Rancho Cordova now has an up and comer in Doering whom they can rally around as Apex Predator MMA continues a streak of medaling at every Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament it’s entered since opening a year and a half ago.
Vidaurri added, “we’ve done well so far at BJJ tournaments and I’m proud to be recognized as a Jiu Jitsu powerhouse, which in large part is my thing… but I’m so much more than that, and this dojo offers everything from Judo to Sambo and kickboxing, so my guys are well rounded. Now we get the opportunity to take it to the next level this summer.”
