88 Cordova High Seniors Honored at Annual Awards Night

RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - On Thursday, May 11th, 88 Cordova High seniors were recognized at the high school’s annual Scholarships and Awards Ceremony.  Principal Jerad Hyden welcomed the seniors and their families, and Assistant Principal Ann Botsford served as Master of Ceremonies. Principal Hyden was quoted for stating, “I am very grateful to join all of you in celebrating and honoring the hard work and continued commitment of these accomplished Lancers tonight.   I’m pleased to see so many family members and friends here to join us and a special welcome to all the CHS alumni in the audience.”  17 students who had applied for local scholarships received scholarship awards, totaling $28,750 in local scholarships. 

The scholarship winners were: 
Aerojet Rocketdyne Foundation STEM Scholarship $1,000: Nam Dang, Capitol Coalition Scholarship $1,000: Rocio Perez, Catherine J.Fidel Scholarship $1,000: Carlo Campbell, Clark Family Memorial Scholarship $500: Ayden Gregory, Cordova Lancers, Leaders, and Legends Scholarships $1,000 each student: Kaeli Savorn, Jazmine Savorn, Ashonna Miley, CREATE Mentoring Program Scholarship $1,500: Iffat Thasina, Don Nottoli Scholarship $5,000: Sophia Trujillo, Folsom Cordova Leadership Assn. Three students received Student Government Leadership Awards:
Sophia Trujillo-4 years of leadership, Carlo Campbell - 4 years of leadership, Rocio Perez Vicente - Represented Rancho Cordova on the FCUSD school board.

Three students were recognized for enlisting in the military:
Nathaly Gomez & Cody Jones in the United States Marines Corps, and Heylin Del Cid in the United States Navy. 

The US Marine Corps also recognized 6 students with framed certificates in the areas of Academics, Athletics, and Music:
Stephen Nefsky, Mariah Hopkins, Andres Valdovinos, Sophia Trujillo, Joshua Campolo, Haley Ftacnik.

38 were recognized for being in the top 10% of the class, and 11 received stoles to wear at graduation from the California Scholarship Federation.  Cordova High School is proud to be a part of the International Baccalaureate Programme as well as the International Baccalaureate Career Programme (for students interested in careers in the medical field).  This year 7 students received the International Baccalaureate full Diploma stole and certificate, 26 received the International Baccalaureate Career Programme purple cord and certificate, and 32 were awarded International Baccalaureate certificates and blue cords to wear at graduation.
