RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - On June 2, 2023, Cordova Recreation & Park District (CRPD) and the community celebrated the successful completion of the Federspiel Park Walkway Improvements Project!

This project began with the initiative of a dedicated community member, Angel Ball, who approached CRPD to support a funding request to the City of Rancho Cordova for a new walkway and site furnishings at Federspiel Park. CRPD was excited to work with and support the community on this project. The project had the backing of the community with over a hundred petition signatures and letters of support from Folsom Cordova Unified School District, It Takes a Lincoln Village Community Group and Bicycling Advocates for Rancho Cordova.

After the City Council approved the project, CRPD staff began the process of designing the walkway and getting all required permits.  Soon, construction began on the park improvements and now the project is complete! This project truly demonstrated a community-initiated, multi-agency and multi-team project.

Today, instead of walking to school on the street, Federspiel Park neighbors have a safe park path to use each day. Residents also now have new tables, benches and drinking fountains to enjoy.

CRPD is grateful to Angel Ball and the Federspiel Park neighbors for the way they have transformed and enhanced their community through their activism.

Enjoy Federspiel Park’s new walkway and latest enhancements at 2549 Chassella Way, Rancho Cordova, CA 95670. For more information, visit www.crpd.com.
