RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - The Rancho Cordova Athletic Association (RCAA) Sports Hall of Fame awards case at Rancho Cordova City Hall gained a new heirloom last week – the original Cordova High School Spirit Shield, dating back to its creation during the 1963-64 school year.

The Shield – the subject of a Nov. 16 Grapevine story – was found after a campus-wide search following a 38-year disappearance. The Spirit Shield has officially been placed in its new display exhibit location secured by the efforts of Terry Behrens (CHS 1973 alumnus).

Mayor Linda Budge welcomed CHS 1965 alumni April Dobbs Krause, Dennis Trainor, Mike Krause, and Bob Kidd. Trainor and Krause spent several hours restoring the Spirit Shield after it was found earlier this fall by Cordova High Activities Director Josh Creeger (CHS 1993 alumnus) and students.

Through an agreement with Cordova High School, the Shield was donated to City Hall via the Rancho Cordova Sports Hall of Fame. Representing the Hall of Fame were Committee members Terry Behrens and Mike O’Keeffe (CHS 1973 alumni), and Hall of Fame Chairman Mike Marando (CHS 1973 alumnus).
