RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - Our Rancho Cordova students continue to impress us, both inside and outside the classroom! Charli Ramirez-Olivia, a freshman and student-athlete at Cordova High School, is an inspiring example of a student in the city that excels in both athletics and academics.

In his first season as a Lancer, Charli secured a top five position in the Division 2 CIF Section Championships in the freshman and sophomore race. Not only did he shine at the high school level, but Charli joined the Fifty East Elite Youth Club Track and Field/Cross Country team where he embarked on a journey towards the USA Track and Field 2023 Junior Olympic Cross-Country Championships in Louisville, Kentucky.

Throughout his journey to Louisville, Charli clinched a top five finish at the Pacific Association Championship and won first place in the 15-16 age group at the USATF Region 14 Championship.

“Charli’s achievements not only reflect his dedication and resilience, but they also mirror the support and guidance he receives from his incredible teammates at Cordova High School and the Fifty East Elite,” said Fifty East Elite President and Head Coach Josh Gruver.

With these amazing accomplishments, Charli became the first Cordova High School student-athlete to represent the city at the USATF Junior Olympics Cross Country Championships, putting Rancho Cordova on a national platform. Charli also competed at the University of Boston, making him once again the first Rancho Cordova student-athlete to compete at this indoor track and secure victories in multiple races.

Charli’s talents on the track field didn’t distract him from his schoolwork as he maintained a 3.5 GPA during his freshman year, demonstrating his commitment to academic excellence.

“The City of Rancho Cordova is extremely proud of Charli and his accomplishments,” said Rancho Cordova Mayor David Sander. “Our talented student-athletes at Cordova High excel with the help of supportive academic staff, community programs and teammates. Our Rancho Cordova community is setting a high bar in the cross country and track and field world. We have some of the best facilities, extensive coaching and impactful community programs available in support of our athletes. This is the standard for us in Rancho Cordova, where every kid gets a chance to play and excel.”
