Cordova Seniors Recognized at Annual Awards Night

RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - On Monday, May 6, Cordova High seniors were recognized at the high school’s annual Scholarships and Awards Ceremony. Principal Amy Strawn welcomed the seniors and their families, and Assistant Principal Michele Brown served as master of ceremonies. Principal Strawn was quoted, “Tonight, we celebrate the remarkable achievements of our graduating seniors. From academic excellence to outstanding leadership, our students have shown incredible dedication and talent throughout their high school journey. I want to extend my gratitude to our students for their hard work, our faculty for their support, and our families for their unwavering encouragement. Congratulations to the recipients of scholarships and awards. Your accomplishments are truly inspiring. Let’s cherish this evening as we honor our seniors and celebrate the bright futures ahead.” 22 students who had applied for local scholarships received scholarship awards, totaling $35,000 in local scholarships.

Cordova High School’s diverse student body has once again excelled in earning the State Seal of Biliteracy. This year, 70 seniors have been awarded a special gold seal for their diploma and a medal to wear at graduation, in recognition of their proficiency in English and one or more others.

 Languages represented were: Armenian, Dari, Farsi, French, Pashto, Russian, Spanish, and Ukrainian.

Cordova High School is proud to offer the International Baccalaureate Programme and the International Baccalaureate Career Programme for students interested in medical careers. One student received the prestigious International Baccalaureate full Diploma, accompanied by a certificate. Additionally, 25 students earned the International Baccalaureate Career Programme purple cord and certificate, and 34 students were awarded International Baccalaureate certificates and blue cords, which they will proudly wear at graduation.
