RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - Grab a blanket, lawn chairs and the kids and head over to Village Green Park where the summertime favorite “Moonlight Movies” returns June 7.
Free admission, green grass and family-friendly movies with a science theme await in the amphitheater with showtime beginning at sunset at 8:30 p.m.
Prior to the show, various outreach partners will be on hand, and beverages and snacks will be available from vendors and food trucks.
This year’s theme is “Summer of Science.” The movie line-up includes: “Meet the Robinsons” on June 7; “Wall-e” on June 14; “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” on June 21 and “Big Hero 6” on June 28.
“This is the 10th year for our Moonlight Movies series, and it is one of our favorite times of the year,” said Shelly Blanchard, executive director of the Cordova Community Council. “Just come as you are, stretch out on the grass, watch the kids run around and then snuggle in for the movie.”
The movies are just the first half of the Cordova Community Council’s summer series at Village Green. The series returns in August for free Friday Night Concerts, with live music, food vendors and warm summer nights. The line-up of bands includes Guilty as Charged on Aug. 2, Neon Playboys on Aug. 9, Adam Aldama and the Aces on Aug. 16, Pop Fiction on Aug. 23 and Cripple Creek Band on Aug. 30.
The free movie and concert series is produced by the Cordova Community Council with venue sponsored by the Cordova Recreation and Park District. Sponsors include Sunrise Orthodontics, River City Christian, Rancho Cordova Food Locker, KP International Market, Rancho Cordova Fiber City, Rancho Cordova Rotary, Mayor David Sander, SMUD, Republic Services, City of Rancho Cordova, Visit Rancho Cordova and Atlas Disposal.
