Meet Deputy Young, Honor Guard

RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - Deputy Young has served with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office for two-and-a-half years.

During her tenure, Young has worked at the Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center and is currently assigned to the Rancho Cordova Police Department as a patrol officer.

Young's journey to becoming a deputy began with a childhood aspiration to work in law enforcement. Her dream of becoming an attorney evolved in high school when Young realized her passion for community involvement and meaningful connections. Surrounded by family and friends in law enforcement, she was inspired by the security they provided and decided to pursue a career in the field. After graduating from Northwest Nazarene University, a meeting with a Sacramento County Sheriff's Office Deputy convinced her that the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office was the perfect place to start her career.

On her first day at the Sheriff's Academy, Young witnessed the Honor Guard presenting the colors. As the Honor Guard presented the colors, Young said that she was captivated by their flawless precision and synchronized movements. The team operated with such unity and dedication that they seemed to move as one, embodying the highest standards of honor and commitment. The sight left a lasting impression on Young, igniting a desire to one day be part of such an extraordinary team.

Young knew then that she wanted to join the Honor Guard. Determined to make this aspiration a reality, Young set out on a rigorous path of preparation. She studied the Honor Guard's movements, analyzing their every step and gesture to understand the discipline and coordination required. The opportunity finally arose when applications for the Honor Guard were available. With her thorough preparation and unwavering determination, Young faced the selection process with a clear vision and a steadfast commitment to excellence. Her hard work paid off and this year, Young achieved her goal of becoming a member of the Honor Guard.
