RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - The 58th National Mother Lode Art Exhibition opened Thursday Nov. 7, at the Mills Station Arts and Culture Center (the MACC) in Rancho Cordova. This year’s Juror and Judge, D. Oldham Neath, “The Art Lady” selected 92 pieces of art from the 695 entries to the show.
This is the third year the show chair, Su Wickersham, selected the MACC as the show’s gallery for the exhibition. The exhibition was originally produced at The Shakespeare Club in Placerville and spent a few years in Carmichael at the Sacramento Fine Arts Center before moving to the MACC.
Placerville Arts Association, the shows sponsoring organization, was originally founded as a spin off from the art group associated with The Shakespeare Club 58 years ago. The National Mother Lode Art Exhibition draws artists from California, Northern Nevada, and many other parts of the US. Each year the juror’s selection of artwork results in a show with something for everyone. From a classic portrait “Woman Holding a Fan” by Kate Blue to the ceramic rocket ship “Grocery Shopping with Grandpa,” by Joe Schumacher. The displays exhibit excellent curation by Cheryl Gleason and Ron Hall creating a delightful experience for visitors.
This year’s Mother Lode Art Exhibition runs through Nov. 23. The Gallery days and hours are Thursday and Friday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Don’t miss the opportunity to see the Papa Day Blues Band playing on the Nov. 15 tickets are only $5 and can be purchased online at rcmacc.org.
