RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - Business owners gathered at Rancho Cordova City Hall from 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 19 for the city’s inaugural Business Resource Fair.

Hosted by the Rancho Cordova Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Rancho Cordova, the free event attracted about 200 attendees, bringing together more than 25 community partners and service providers.

With more than 65,000 workers, Rancho Cordova is one of the largest employment hubs in the region, according to the Rancho Cordova Area Chamber of Commerce. The fair aimed to support the city’s businesses with resources essential for growth and innovation, while addressing the challenges of a post-pandemic economy.

“The whole point of this fair is to connect people with resources and tools. It’s not a vendor fair. The idea is to show attendees the tools and resources that are available to people for their businesses,” said Chamber of Commerce CEO and President Diann Rogers.

The event featured 25 community partners and service providers, offering valuable resources to attendees.

Community partners featured at the event included the U.S. Small Business Administration, SMUD, PG&E, the Better Business Bureau and the California Capital Women’s Business Center, among others. Attendees networked, exchanged ideas and explored potential partnerships.

“The Rancho Cordova Area Chamber of Commerce is the voice of business,” said Ashley Downton, project manager. “We are here to help support the businesses and community here in Rancho Cordova and surrounding areas. Events like this are really important because they give businesses a place to get resources in one spot. There are so many resources available to business owners across the Sacramento region and we’re proud to bring them all together in one place.”

Local agencies also played a key role in supporting Rancho Cordova’s business community. Shelby Golden from the Cordova Recreation & Park District said that the event was an opportunity to showcase the district’s services and facilities to local businesses.

“We want people to be aware of all the different parks, facilities, playgrounds and services we have available,” Golden said. “I think events like this are really important, especially for small businesses, to learn about the outstanding services other businesses have to offer.”

Ashley Kobe, a representative from the City of Rancho Cordova's Economic Development Department, also highlighted the importance of these types of events for small businesses.

“I think it’s important to engage with our small businesses. They are the fabric of what we do, so this is a great way to connect them with resources that they sometimes feel a little separated from,” Kobe said. “The intent of the event is to make direct contact with individuals, get their cards and access the resources they need. It’s integral to what we do.”

The event attracted numerous residents and business owners eager to learn about the resources available to support their growth and success.

Logan Hall, a local business owner, attended the fair to learn more about the available resources and network with others in the area.

“What brought me here today was really to get more involved with the community, network and find out more about what businesses are available here in Rancho Cordova,” Hall said.
