St. Francis Celebrates 17 Future Collegiate Athletes

SACRAMENTO REGION, CA (MPG) – St. Francis Catholic High School honored a total of 17 senior students who committed to compete in ten different collegiate sports during the spring edition of its National Letter of Intent and College Commitment celebration on the morning of May 1.
Alphabetically, the guests of honor comprised Estella Bacsafra, Westmont (soccer); Sarah Bashore, Framingham State (soccer); Piper Brostrom, La Salle (water polo); Abigail Collier, Mount St. Mary’s (water polo); Miranda Ferguson, Long Beach CC (water polo); Kylee Garrett, Pacific (softball); Olivia Hamm, Lynn (lacrosse); Emily Hartman, Quinnipiac (rugby); Addison Hutchcraft, LIU (water polo); Anna Jurrens, Seattle (rowing); Gwyneth O’Brien, Saint Mary’s (rowing); Lucie Pickering Pick, Westmont (cross country/track); Sophia Santsche-Chavez, Long Beach CC (water polo); Zia Smith, Colorado Mesa (lacrosse); Sydney Teoh, Chapman (basketball); and Paige Vicente, UC Santa Cruz (diving).
The event on May 1 serves as a companion to the November event, which recognized nine Troubadours: Carly Hall, Pacific (soccer); Mia Hill, St. Bonaventure (swimming); Erica Jaffe, University of California, Los Angeles (swimming); Maggie Koerwitz, San Francisco (soccer); Claire Krotine, Santa Clara (softball); Sofia Rabinovitz, Hastings (soccer); Marissa Recio, Fresno State (swimming); Megan Sands, Southern Methodist University (rowing); and Isabelle Schmid, Cal Poly (swimming).
The total of 26 future collegiate student-athletes marks the highest on record for St. Francis since the 2018 class, which had 28 graduates go on to play at the next level. However, the exact total for the 2025 seniors remains to be determined, as not all future collegians report their status or participate in the ceremonies.
St. Francis athletics director Ryan Chisolm also recognized coaches, teachers, guidance counselors and administrators who played a part in the Troubadours’ academic, athletic and spiritual growth during their time at the Sacramento area’s premier all-girls college prep school.
Each student-athlete have selected the college and/or university they will be studying at, listed below:
Estella Bacsafra, soccer athlete, intends on studying
business and economics at Westmont College.
Sarah Bashore, soccer athlete intends to study at Framingham State.
Piper Brostrom, water polo athlete, plans on studying special education at La
Salle College.
Abigail Collier, water polo athlete, plans to study economics at Mount St.
Mary’s College.
Miranda Ferguson, water polo athlete, plans to study biological psychology at Long
Beach City College.
Kylee Garrett, softball athlete, intends on majoring
in health and exercise sciences.
Olivia Hamm, lacrosse athlete, plans to study psychology as a Fighting Knight.
Emily Hartman, rugby athlete, plans on studying physical therapy (health
science studies) at Quinnipiac University.
Addison Hutchcraft, water polo athlete, plans to study nursing at Long Island
University.
Gabriella Honig, rowing athlete, plans to study nursing at Saint Mary’s College.
Anna Jurrens, rowing athlete, will study nursing at Seattle University.
Gwyneth O’brien, rowing athlete, plans on majoring in biology at St. Mary’s
College.
Lucie Pickering Pick, cross country/track and field athlete, will study
business and economics at Westmont College.
Sophia Santsche-Chavez, water polo athlete, aspires to become a firefighter and
will major in Long Beach City College’s fire science program.
Zia Smith, lacrosse athlete, intends to study at Colorado Mesa University.
Sydney Teoh, basketball athlete, will study health sciences at Chapman
University.
Paige Vicente, diving athlete, intends on studying biology and economics
at University of California, Santa Cruz.
