RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - With the school year and spring sports season ending, the Grapevine Independent is recognizing standout athletes for their performance this spring at Cordova High School.
This spring, there were multiple deserving candidates within both girls’ and boys’ athletics. However, two athletes stood out above the rest. Congratulations to sophomore varsity softball power hitter Becca Lee and junior varsity baseball pitcher Levi Nyberg for being named Spring 2025 Sports Standout.
In softball, Lee led the Metro League in home runs (4), slugging percentage (1.060) and on base percentage (.617), and ranked second in batting average (.540).
Lee led the Lady Lancers in those same categories, along with being at the top of the stat sheet in hits (27), runs batted in (27), doubles (10) and triples (2). Her stellar season earned Lee All-Metro Team honors.
During the season, Lady Lancers coach Kim Little spoke highly of Lee’s dedication to the sport, stating that her work ethic is what helps set her apart on the diamond.
“She shows up for practice, then she’ll even tell me she went home and got reps in,” Little said. “Softball is her thing.”

On the baseball field, Nyberg was once again Mr. Reliable for the Lancers’ varsity baseball program. Within the Metro League, Nyberg ranked atop the leaderboards in batting average (.543) and on base percentage (.644). He also ranked second in slugging percentage (.790).
Additionally, Nyberg led his team in stolen bases (27), runs (29), hits (44), slugging percentage (.790), doubles (14) and triples (3). On the mound, Nyberg was second on the team in strikeouts (53) and led the Lancers’ pitching rotation with a 1.67 earned run average.
Nyberg’s outstanding year earned the youngster a spot on the All-Metro Team. During the season, Lancer’s coach Scott Ahlstrom made a simple statement that showcased Nyberg’s importance to the program.
“We wouldn’t be where we are without Levi,” Ahlstrom said.
Congratulations to both Lee and Nyberg for all their accomplishments this spring!
