RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - The Cordova Lady Lancers’ varsity flag football program recently hired Kim Little to be their next head coach, according to Cordova High School Athletic Director JP Dolliver.

Although she will be new to the team, Little is certainly a familiar face to many players on the roster. Little, who has coached both varsity girls’ basketball and varsity softball at Cordova for several seasons, will inherit a group comprised of several players whom she coaches during the winter and spring seasons. The experienced coach is looking forward to the new challenge.

Upcoming senior Taliyah Johnson, who excels on the hardwood for Little during basketball season, should benefit from having Little coach them on the field.

“I’m super excited,” Little said. “It should be so much fun.”

Quarterback Becca Lee, who will be entering her junior season in the fall, plays for Little on both her basketball and softball teams. That familiarity figures to be key in the teams’ success when they take to the field for the third season of flag football at Cordova.

Additionally, upcoming senior Taliyah Johnson, along with soon-to-be junior Tiah Kennedy, whom both excel on the hardwood for Little during basketball season, should benefit from having Little coach them on the field. Little feels that her knowledge of many on the roster will pay off big time come kickoff.

“I think it will make for a well-rounded, competitive season,” Little said. “The team bond and chemistry should be familiar, and adding in new players and faces will help make us a threat.”

Little is taking over for former head coach Garrett Roth, who left the team for an opportunity to become the head coach of the flag football program at Ferrum College in Virginia. Last season, the Lady Lancers finished 6-19 overall, with a 2-8 record in Metro League competition. With Little at the helm, the hope is that the cohesion between coach and players will help carry the Lady Lancers to their first playoff berth in program history.
