RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) – Cordova Lancers soon-to-be junior quarterback, Trey Wallace, has been busy on and off the field since the 2024 football season ended last fall.
From the classroom to the weight room and beyond, Wallace has been hard at work to not only become a better athlete, but a better student and leader as well.
Wallace wrapped up his fall football season last year by receiving the coveted varsity football 4C's Award, which stands for Commitment, Courage, Compassion and Confidence, but his dedication did not end there.
Wallace maintained an impressive 3.4 GPA throughout the entire school year, despite playing sports year-round, attending tutoring twice a week after school, and volunteering his time with the Cordova Junior Lancers program and other community outreach programs throughout the school year. Throw in running track this spring, weekly quarterback-specific training, speed and agility work as well as weight training, and it wouldn't be out of bounds to say his top skill may very well be juggling all of his commitments.
Now that the school year is wrapped up, Wallace has turned his attention full-time to football. He is currently attending varsity workouts four times per week, as well as participating in 7-on-7 competitions where he plays both quarterback and safety. He has also attended various football camps this offseason, including Recruit Nation Sacramento, Recruit Nation Phoenix, and two camps at Sacramento State including the Rising Stars Camp. Throw in a trip to an invite-only camp at the University of Nevada-Reno and it is clear Wallace is all-in when it comes to football and the upcoming season at Cordova.

Last fall, the Lancers missed out on the playoffs after their first season in the newly-constructed Metro League.
A 5-1 start to the season created a buzz around the program but a second-half stumble resulted in a 6-4 overall record and fifth place finish in the league. That has stuck with Wallace and his teammates, becoming a form of fuel for the group as they prepare for the new campaign in August.
When asked what his goals are for the upcoming season, Wallace was direct in his response. "I want to make the playoffs," he said.
Wallace and his Lancers' wide receivers have also routinely participated in throwing sessions throughout the offseason to build the chemistry necessary to connect on the field when the Friday night lights are burning their brightest.
Combine all of his field work with also making a concerted effort to bulk up to be ready for the rigors of a physical football season, Wallace has added nearly 40 pounds since last fall and all signs are pointing to the young signal caller being ready to take his game, and team, to the next level.
