RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) – Rancho Cordova was the center of celebration this Fourth of July as thousands gathered over two days for the 40th annual Independence Day festivities, hosted by the Cordova Community Council.
The event was held July 3 and 4 at Hagan Community Park, 2197 Chase Drive, and broke several records drawing more than 30,000 attendees across both days, according to Shelly Blanchard, executive director of the Cordova Community Council.
“We hit a bunch of milestones this year,” Blanchard said. “We had 350 runners in the All-America Mile, three times more than ever before, and 10 marching bands in the parade.”
The festivities kicked off on July 3 as gates opened at 4 p.m. at Hagan Park. Carnival rides, food and beer vendors and live entertainment filled the evening. “It’s Showtime Circus” delighted audiences with two performances at 5:30 and 7 p.m., followed by a high-energy concert by Big Crush at 8 p.m. The night ended with a crowd-pleasing fireworks show at 9:45 p.m.
On July 4, the morning began with the All-America Mile at 9:30 a.m., followed by the community’s patriotic Fourth of July Parade at 10 a.m., featuring floats, local organizations and marching bands down Coloma Road.
The evening mirrored the previous night’s lineup, with carnival rides, food and more circus performances, capped off by a concert from Mustache Harbor and another dazzling fireworks display.
