RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - The City of Rancho Cordova is fighting mail theft and other crimes using high-tech tools and the Rancho Cordova Police Department’s new Real Time Information Center (RTIC), as well as forging a unique collaboration between the Rancho Cordova Police Department and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.

Installing and integrating advanced tools such as the Flock Safety license plate recognition (LPR) cameras and special Flock cameras at high-theft mailbox locations and using the city’s Real Time Information Center to track, respond to and help solve crimes as they happen, has yielded mail theft arrests.

“Our Real Time Information Center, combined with high-tech tools like Flock Safety LPR cameras, is proving invaluable in fighting crime,” said Rancho Cordova Police Chief Matthew Tamayo. “In one recent case, we were able to track down suspects who broke into a USPS vehicle, follow their path of travel, and ultimately identify and arrest them with the help of our partners at the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. These tools give our officers the ability to connect the dots faster, prevent further crimes, and bring offenders to justice.”

The Real Time Information Center serves as a central hub where trained analysts monitor live feeds and access real-time data from Flock cameras strategically placed throughout the city. This seamless connection between field officers and technology enables the Rancho Cordova Police Department to locate suspects, identify stolen vehicles and coordinate faster, more targeted responses to criminal activity as it unfolds.

“This technology gives our officers eyes across the city, allowing us to be more proactive and vigilant in protecting our residents against mail theft and other crimes,” said Rancho Cordova Mayor Siri Pulipati. “It’s a game-changer for public safety in our community, and the unique collaboration with USPIS is a model for how agencies can work together to improve quality of life for residents.”

Flock Safety license plate recognition cameras capture license plate data and vehicle descriptions with remarkable accuracy, day or night. When paired with the Real Time Information Center’s ability to analyze and share information instantly, officers can be directed to active incidents faster, improving the chances of stopping crimes in progress and bringing offenders to justice.

The integration of technology such as Flock Safety license plate recognition cameras and Real Time Information Center into everyday policing reflects Rancho Cordova Police Department’s commitment to innovation, efficiency, and community safety. This modern approach, paired with strong partnerships and traditional police work, is helping ensure Rancho Cordova remains a safe and welcoming community for all.
