RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) – Dave’s BBQ will host the Women Make the World Go Around Rib Cook-off, a one-of-a-kind women's only barbecue contest from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 4, at the Elks Club in Rancho Cordova.

This event is more than a competition; it's a celebration of female pitmasters and a fundraiser for two critical causes: Breast Cancer Awareness and Women in Domestic Violence. This contest is designed to build community by bringing women together to support each other while competing for great prizes from sponsors such as Weber and Kingsford.

"We are fired up to bring the community together for a day of incredible barbecue, music, and fun," said Dave Jackson, owner of Savory Dave’s BBQ. "This year, we're proud to partner with Weber and Kingsford to support women who make the world go around.”

The event will highlight regional women pitmasters competing for a Grand Championship prize of a Weber Slate Griddle. First-place winners in ribs, fajitas and People’s Choice will receive a Weber Traveler Portable Gas Grill, a ribbon and cash. The People’s Choice winner will receive a wrestling-style belt. All contestants will receive a Weber apron and two bags of Kingsford charcoal.

The public can participate by purchasing a ticket for $35 to sample ribs from each team and voting for their favorite rib. Admission is $10.

Event highlights include a women’s rib cook-off, women’s fajitas cook-off, women’s merchandise vendors, women’s food vendors, women with cars, a woman deejay, silent auction, kids’ zone and line dancing.

The Elks Club in Rancho Cordova is at 11440 Elks Circle, Rancho Cordova.
