RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - The Cordova Lady Lancers entered Metro League competition this week with a good amount of positive momentum.
Under head coach Kim Bradley, the Lady Lancers (3-11 overall at press time) won two of their past three games entering this week and appear to be rounding into shape heading into the most important stretch of the season.
With a 25-6 victory at Bradshaw Christian on Sept. 9 followed by a 29-12 victory at home against Center on Sept. 16, the Lady Lancers are looking like an ever-improving bunch after some early season struggles.
"I think we're finally gelling together," Bradley said when asked about the state of her team as they move into league play.

Against Center, senior quarterback/defensive back Taliyah Johnson made quite an impact with an interception returned for a touchdown. Additionally, senior wide receiver Jasmine Ferrell tallied five receptions and a touchdown to help pace the Cordova offense. Junior tailback Tiah Kennedy had a few explosive runs out of the backfield but perhaps none more important than a two-point conversion to help add points to the scoreboard.
The Lady Lancers began Metro League play this past Tuesday at McClatchy; however final results were not available by press time. As the team is preparing for its most crucial stretch of the season, Bradley is confident.
"We know what we have to do as a team," she said. "We're not focused on the teams in our league as much as we are focused on doing what we do best. We gotta go in and try to capitalize on that."
The Lady Lancers will have two Metro League games under their belt after facing McClatchy and Kennedy this week and return to the field Sept. 30 when they travel to Grant. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
