RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) – The Cordova High School Lancers brought the community together for a memorable Homecoming celebration on Friday, Oct. 10, during their game against Antelope High School.
One of the highlights of the evening was a thrilling float parade, where each class showcased its artistic talents in line with this year’s Tim Burton movie theme.
The junior class took first place with their “Nightmare Before Christmas” float, while the seniors earned second with their “Corpse Bride” design.
The sophomores’ “Alice in Wonderland” float secured third place and the freshmen’s Batman float rounded out the competition in fourth.

Halftime also featured the crowning of the Homecoming Court, with senior Nyla Sutton named Homecoming Queen and Carnell Jones crowned Homecoming King. The event was a lively celebration of Cordova pride, with energetic performances by the cheerleaders and the school’s marching band.
In a touching show of support, fans participated in the inaugural Teddy Bear Toss after the first quarter. Sheriff Cooper helped kick off the event by tossing a bag of stuffed animals onto the track, inspiring fans to do the same. The cheerleaders collected the bears, which will be donated to UC Davis Children’s Hospital.
