LINCOLN, CA (MPG) - The Cordova Lady Lancers' fall season has officially come to a close following the Sac Joaquin Section Division II Divisional tournament at Turkey Creek Golf Course in Lincoln, CA on Oct. 27.

The Lady Lancers saw two of their own qualify for the event in seniors Grace Deems and Savannah Buckner. The duo, who have been friends since kindergarten, both shot very similar scores. Deems went on to shoot a 134, with Buckner right behind as she posted a 139 at what is widely considered to be a tough course.

For Cordova head coach Brian Botsford, seeing the pair finish their golf tenure at Cordova together was a great experience. "I think it was kind of a nice note for them, having been on the team together and being friends since kindergarten, to be able to do one last match together. It was pretty nice."

The two seniors plan on attending college next year following graduation, however final decisions on where they will attend has not been determined.

With the season over, the team also held its annual post-season awards gathering last week. Botsford handed out varsity letters to all members of the team. Additionally, Botsford handed out his "Coach's Award", an honor reserved for the player who best displays leadership, skill, and excellence both on and off the golf course. This year the award was given to Deems, with Botsford speaking highly of her impact to the team this season.
