RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - The Cordova Lady Lancers recently hit the hardwood to begin preparations for their winter season under head coach Kim Bradley. After a period of growing and learning last year, the team appears poised to take a big leap in their second season within the Metro League.
The team has a solid group of core returning players, including senior guards Jasmine Ferrell and Taliyah Johnson. Additionally, two juniors in guard Tiah Kennedy and forward Becca Lee will be counted on in a big way if the team wants to have success.
Junior guard Emily Espinoza-Hernandez was also mentioned by Bradley as a player she has big expectations of in the coming months. Sophomore forward Samaya King is also a player to watch according to her coach.

With the roster set, the vibes were high as the team participated in their first preseason games of the year earlier this week, with home games against Rosemont on Nov. 20 and Union Mine on Nov. 21. Final results were not available at press time; however the mood entering the week was one of optimism.
"We're feeling confident," Bradley said. "I've seen maturity and growth from the previous season to now from the core group that has played varsity the past two or three years."
Bradley also mentioned that she has been impressed by the improved physicality from the players returning from last year’s group. The willingness to compete at a high level has been evident and there is excitement around the program.
