RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - Cordova Lady Lancers senior point guard Jasmine Ferrell has been a key member of the varsity basketball program since her freshman year under the guidance of head coach Kim Bradley. Now, in her final season with the program, the scrappy point guard is being relied upon as a leader on and off the court.
Ferrell is viewed as the team’s hardest worker and someone who sets a good example both on the court and in the classroom. This past fall she even added another sport to her resume when she played on the Lady Lancers' flag football team which was also coached by Bradley. She brings a certain toughness to the court and can be counted on to go all-out no matter what she has going on, according to her coach.

“She’s our workhorse,” Bradley said. “She won’t quit. She will give you 150 percent, no matter what. No matter if she’s battling and trying to fight through an ankle injury or a knee injury. Whatever it is, she’s going to give you everything she has.”
This season, Ferrell is averaging 9.0 points per game for Cordova, and figures to be a big contributor down the stretch as the team enters Metro League play beginning in early January. Yet, it's not just her on-court production that has helped her earn the respect of her teammates and coaches alike.
“She is a very encouraging teammate,” Bradley said. “She’s fun to be around. She can be serious when needed but also very joking. She has learned how to be a leader over the years, and for teenagers that is difficult.”

Additionally, Bradley mentioned that the youngster has persevered through a lot during her time at Cordova. She has dealt with injuries over time, and the loss of a close family member prior to the start of her junior season in 2024. Through it all, Bradley says the upperclassman has "blossomed" into a very important member of the team. Now, with a finite number of games remaining in her time at Cordova, Bradley isn't expecting anything more than what she's already brought to the team since she first stepped on the court four years ago.
“Nothing that we haven’t seen from her,” Bradley said when asked about what she wants to see down the stretch. “Just for her to keep being a fearless hard worker.”
