RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - On Friday, Dec. 5, Soil Born Farms joined forces with Folsom Cordova Unified School District’s Nutrition Services Department, Cordova High School’s Future Farmers of America Agriculture Academy and Cordova Gardens Elementary School to celebrate the Broccoli Buddies Project.
This hands-on program, supported by the city’s Community Enhancement & Investment Fund, introduces students to the importance of local agriculture and healthy eating.
During the celebration, students learned about local agriculture and how fresh produce grows in their community, created broccoli crowns, gained practical experience in planting and harvesting and enjoyed a vegetable harvest-themed lunch, connecting classroom learning with healthy eating habits.
The Broccoli Buddies Project is part of Soil Born Farms’ ongoing mission to educate and inspire young people about sustainable agriculture, nutrition and the benefits of eating locally grown produce. By partnering with schools and community organizations, the program helps students develop hands-on skills and an appreciation for where their food comes from.
