RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - The Mills Station Arts & Culture Center (MACC) has announced its 2026 visual arts schedule, offering a yearlong lineup of exhibitions, community programs and special events featuring local, regional and national artists.

The season opens Jan. 15 with “Voices in Thread: Quilts by the Social Justice Sewing Academy,” on view through Feb. 21. The Social Justice Sewing Academy empowers middle and high school students to express themselves and create social change through sewing and textile art. Core programming includes social justice education, community quilt workshops and art quilt instruction.

Also opening Jan. 15 is a Spotlight Artist exhibition featuring Kay Kelison, on view through Jan. 31. Kelison is an abstract artist and certified art therapist with more than four decades of experience. An artist talk and reception will be held Jan. 16.

The center’s Art at City Hall series continues with “Where the Wild Things Grow,” with a reception scheduled for Feb. 4 at Rancho Cordova City Hall. Art at City Hall exhibitions are juried by external jurors from the greater Sacramento metropolitan area and rotate quarterly, remaining on display for approximately three months.

Spotlight Artist Yanna Evans will be featured Feb. 5–21.

From March 5–21, the MACC will present “Moments in Focus,” an open-theme local photography exhibition. Rancho Cordova Arts members may submit work free of charge, while nonmembers may enter up to three pieces for $30. The submission deadline is Feb. 8. Spotlight Artist Todd Damiano will be featured during the same period.

The 7th annual Student Art Show will run April 9–27, showcasing hundreds of artworks by TK–12 students who live in or attend school in Rancho Cordova. Artwork is submitted through participating teachers and schools. A reception is scheduled for April 17 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Art at City Hall returns April 27–July 24 with “Wonder and Whimsy.” A reception will be held April 29 from 5 to 7 p.m.

From May 7–23, the MACC will host “Art à la Carte,” an exhibit celebrating food and the farm-to-fork movement. Artists will transform wooden catering trays into artworks focused on food-related themes. Artists interested in participating may contact the MACC for a tray and prospectus details. Spotlight Artist Maddison Dunn will be featured concurrently.

The 8th annual Rancho Cordova Arts Members Exhibit runs June 11–27 and showcases the diverse media and styles of the organization’s current members.

The MACC will also host the Rancho Cordova Arts “Micro Masterpieces” fundraiser and online auction June 8–13. The fundraiser features donated 6-by-6-inch artworks and supports the purchase of essential art supplies for teachers and students throughout the region. The event began as an in-person fundraiser and later transitioned to an online format, expanding participation and increasing donations.

“The Honeycomb Project,” a traveling exhibition exploring themes of community and belonging, will be on view July 16–Aug. 1. The exhibit includes 900 panels created by 500 artists across 14 states. Spotlight Artist Frank Lopez Motnyk will be featured during the same dates.

Art at City Hall continues July 27–Oct. 23 with “The Art of Essence.” A reception is scheduled for July 30 from 5 to 7 p.m.

The MACC will participate in the “Sacramento Open Studios” tour Sept. 18–20, opening its space to Rancho Cordova Arts members during Weekend 2 of the regional event.

From Oct. 1–24, the MACC will present “Journey of Hope,” an exhibition addressing mental health through collaborative storytelling and visual art. The exhibit connects writers living with mental health challenges with artists who transform their stories into visual expressions, creating space for dialogue, empathy and healing.

Spotlight Artist Jim Hunter will be featured Oct. 2–18.

Art at City Hall’s “Fall Fine Art” exhibition will run Oct. 26, 2026–Jan. 22, 2027, with a reception scheduled for Oct. 29 from 5 to 7 p.m.

The 60th National Mother Lode Exhibition, sponsored by the Placerville Arts Association, will be on view Nov. 5–21. The National Call for artists has been hosted by the MACC for the past four years and will celebrate its 60th anniversary with awards and juried selections.

The year concludes with “Winter Art Fest 2026,” a free, two-weekend pre-holiday festival held Nov. 27–29 and Dec. 4–6 from noon to 5 p.m.

The Mills Station Arts & Culture Center is located at 10191 Mills Station Road, Rancho Cordova. Gallery hours during exhibition dates are Thursday and Friday from 2 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
