SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - On Jan. 24-25, 14 middle and high school students from Sacramento, Rancho Cordova and Folsom will transform Folsom Lake College into the epicenter of Northern and Central California robotics.
Following a successful feature on Good Day Sacramento Jan. 8, Metal Maniacs Team #20163 is set to orchestrate and host the region’s largest back-to-back Robotics Qualifying Tournament with the help of their partners, Folsom Lake College and Playing at Learning.
The event is more than a competition; it is a movement to establish the "Silicon Foothills" right here in our hometown, a hub for youth STEM and Robotics education that keeps California’s future technical talent local.
Nearly 80 youth robotics teams are traveling from across the state for the event, from Fresno to Crescent City. The entire tournament is hosted by a student-led community team of 14 youth innovators who handle everything from Computer-Aided Design (CAD) to event logistics.
The public is encouraged to visit Folsom Lake College, 10 College Parkway, Folsom between 12:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Jan. 24 and 25 to see the "Silicon Foothills" vision in action.
