RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) – In December, the Cordova Recreation & Parks District (CRPD) recognized outgoing 2025 Chairperson Rick Sloan during its final Board meeting of the year. Director Sloan was presented with a certificate honoring his active engagement throughout the community, which exemplified the district’s “Be There” FISH! pillar and reflected a deep commitment to public service. Director Sloan has served on the Board since 2008 and represents Election District 4.
During his term as Chairperson, the district celebrated several major milestones. Highlights included ribbon-cutting ceremonies for the district’s 50th park, Exploration Park, as well as Rockrose Park. Exploration Park also earned a Facility Design & Park Planning Award from the California Park & Recreation Society (CPRS) District 2.

The district also launched its Make This Time Matter! campaign, which received two awards from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) California Capital Chapter. Additional accomplishments included the launch of a new district website and multiple staff-led donation drives to support local families in need. Through these efforts, the district donated more than 650 essential hygiene items and over $2,530 in gift cards to the Folsom Cordova Unified School District’s Families in Transition Program, along with more than 860 items to the Rancho Cordova Food Locker/Community Food Hub.
As the new year begins, the district looks ahead to continued progress under incoming 2026 Chairperson Daniel Langan. Chair Langan has served on the Board since 2022 and represents Election District 5.
The district congratulates Chair Langan on his new role and extends its sincere appreciation to Director Sloan and the entire Board for their continued leadership and dedication to serving the community.
