RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - The Cordova Lady Lancers have had a rough go of things in Metro League play this season.

The Lady Lancers (6-14 overall, 1-7 in Metro League play) have lost their past six consecutive Metro League games as of press time and currently sit in fifth place in league standings. Their only league win of the season came in a 52-37 victory at home against last place Kennedy (7-17 overall, 0-7 Metro League at press time) back on Jan. 9.

Head coach Kim Bradley certainly fosters a well-rounded, team-first environment which sees her players compete hard every game, but that has not translated to wins on the scoreboard this season.

Defensively during their recent slump in league play, the Lady Lancers have allowed 54 points or more in each of their past six games. Against Antelope on Wednesday, Feb. 4, the Lady Lancers struggled on both ends as they scored just one point in the first half before ultimately falling 61-23.

As of press time Cordova had two games remaining on their schedule, with a home tilt against visiting Grant on Thursday, Feb. 12 followed up by their season finale at Kennedy on Friday, Feb. 13.

It hasn’t all been negative, however. The play of junior forward Becca Lee has been solid, as the multi-sport athlete has averaged 13.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game this season. She figures to be a key contributor on the team in her senior season next winter as well. It will be up to Bradley, as well as the returning upperclassmen to help bring along the younger talent on the team to compete in the always tough Metro League next season.
