City of Rancho Cordova Teams Earn National and Regional Recognition

RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - Congratulations are in order for several teams across the City of Rancho Cordova!
Recently, the city’s Human Resources and Finance Departments were named a 2025 Capstone Challenge Award Winner by the National League of Cities. The award was presented at the NLC City Summit in Salt Lake City.
The city earned this recognition for a project that modernized how we manage employee information and payroll. Developed in partnership with UKG and PayTech, the project streamlined Human Resources and payroll operations, increased automation, and improved tools that allow employees to easily access and manage their own information.

The Finance Department also received two awards for its budget from the Government Finance Officers Association and the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers. This recognition reflects the city’s commitment to upholding the highest principles of governmental budgeting and meeting national and state guidelines for effective budget presentation and execution.
In addition, the Public Works Department received the Innovative Transportation Solutions Project of the Year Award from the Women’s Transportation Seminar Sacramento Chapter. This recognition was for the Chase Drive and American River Parkway Connection Project in the Creating Important Connections category.

The Chase Drive American River Parkway Connection Project constructed a half-mile shared-use path from Coloma Road to the American River to improve multimodal access and better connect community amenities along Chase Drive. The project included upgraded crossings, new lighting, and landscaping improvements.
