RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - After winning just one of their first six games, including dropping their first two Metro League contests, the Cordova Lancers seem to have finally found their stride.

Beginning with a resounding 15-1 victory at home on Tuesday, March 3 against visiting El Camino, the Lancers' offense appears to be waking up. After scoring more than two runs just once in their first six games, the Lancers have scored 41 runs in their three most recent outings at press time. Following the victory against El Camino, Cordova tallied 26 total runs in a two-game series sweep against league rival Kennedy last week. At press time, the Lancers had improved to 4-5 overall, including a 2-2 Metro League record.

During the three-game win streak, junior infielder Bro Ahlstrom paced the Cordova offense with seven hits and 7 RBI (runs batted in). Additionally, senior standout Levi Nyberg registered the Lancers' first home run of the season during a 14-0 shutout at Kennedy on Friday, March 6. The most impressive pitching performance came from junior Gage Cordova, who notched seven strikeouts and allowed just one hit in three innings against the Cougars on Wednesday, March 4.

The Lancers began this week with a non-league game at Stagg High School, followed by a home-and-home league series against Grant.  Final results of those contests were not available at press time. The Lancers return to the field next Wednesday, March 18 when they host Antelope at Peterson Field, with first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m.
