Meet RCPD’s New Assistant Chief, Quis Formoli

RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) – Assistant Chief Quis Formoli brings over 26 years of law enforcement experience, with a career spanning patrol, investigations, custody operations, communications and executive leadership.

Formoli has served in specialized investigative assignments including Child Abuse, Homicide and the Special Investigations Bureau, where he managed complex cases involving human trafficking and illicit operations. His leadership experience includes Internal Affairs, as well as oversight of the Main Jail, the county’s 9-1-1 Communications Center, patrol and regional public safety and contract services.

Most recently, Formoli led the expansion of the Explosive Detection K9 program at Folsom Dam from two to ten dogs, significantly enhancing security capabilities. He also secured additional funding to expand Regional Transit security services, developing a team of security officers and a dedicated supervisor to strengthen safety and reliability across the transit system.

Assistant Chief Formoli holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice management and a master’s degree in organizational leadership, reflecting his commitment to professional excellence and strategic leadership.

Rancho Cordova holds deep personal significance for Formoli. After immigrating from the Middle East, his family established roots in the community, where he was raised and graduated from Rancho Cordova High School.

As Assistant Chief, he is committed to leveraging his experience to support personnel, strengthen community partnerships, and advance public safety for the Rancho Cordova community.
