Mills Middle School Inspires Future Pathways During College and Career Spirit Week

RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - Students at Mills Middle School got a powerful glimpse into their futures last week, during the school’s dynamic College & Career Spirit Week, where the campus came alive with exploration, inspiration and real-world connections.
Eighth graders kicked off the week with classroom presentations led by the School Counseling team, connecting students to tools like CaliforniaColleges.edu and guiding them through career exploration lessons designed to help them start planning their futures.

Throughout the week, students had the opportunity to hear from and engage with professionals across a wide range of fields. Participating partners included Explore Rancho CA, Rancho Cordova PD, Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, Chick-fil-A Franchise Owner and community leaders in workforce development and industry. Their presence gave students valuable insight into careers in public safety, business and community service.
Higher education and technical training were also front and center. Representatives from Stanislaus State, Chamberlain University and Universal Technical Institute were on hand to answer questions about degree programs, certifications and career pathways. The U.S. Army also visited campus, sharing information about career opportunities and the educational benefits available through military service.
