RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - Rancho Cordova residents will have a chance to start Independence Day on the move as the All America Mile returns Saturday, July 4, as part of the city’s annual Fourth of July celebrations.
The one-mile run, jog, or walk begins at 9:05 a.m. on Coloma Road, following the city’s parade route through the heart of Rancho Cordova. Check-in begins at 8 a.m. at W.H. Williamson Park, 10551 Coloma Road, and closes at 9 a.m. Coloma Road will close to traffic at 8 a.m. for the event.
“The All America Mile is a one-mile flat route, fun for all ages and athletic levels,” said the Cordova Community Council. “The run is great for families including kids of all ages, even senior kids.”
Registration is capped at 500 runners or closes June 26, whichever comes first. The first 250 registrants of all ages may participate for free. A $5 registration fee applies to the next 250 runners. All registered participants will receive a free T-shirt.
The event takes place just before the community’s Fourth of July Parade, which begins at 10 a.m. Spectators and participants are encouraged to stay downtown for the parade before continuing the day’s festivities at Hagan Park.
Following the parade, the city’s celebration continues with food, carnival rides, concerts and fireworks as part of Rancho Cordova’s annual Independence Day tradition.
Organizers say the mile run is intended to offer a simple, active way to bring the community together early in the holiday.
Participants are encouraged to run, jog or walk the route at their own pace.
