RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - Community members gathered June 25 at Chick-fil-A Rivergate Cordova for the Rancho Cordova Police Department’s annual “Chicken with the Chief” event, an outreach initiative designed to strengthen connections between residents and local law enforcement.

Hosted in partnership with Chick-fil-A, the event gave residents the opportunity to meet Rancho Cordova Police Chief Shaun Hampton, interact with officers and discuss community concerns in an informal setting.

Held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the restaurant on Sunrise Boulevard, the event featured officers trading their badges for aprons as they assisted with serving meals to customers. Attendees also had the chance to tour police vehicles, learn more about department operations and speak directly with officers.

According to the Rancho Cordova Police Department, the annual event is intended to create a welcoming environment where residents can build relationships with law enforcement outside of emergency situations.

“Chicken with the Chief” offers a casual opportunity for community members to say hello, ask questions, share what’s on their minds and connect with the officers who serve Rancho Cordova.

Department officials said community engagement events such as this help foster trust, encourage open communication and strengthen partnerships between residents and public safety personnel.
