RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - Looking for ways to get involved in the community? From giving blood and helping local families to sharing transportation ideas and enjoying family fun, here are a few upcoming events to add to your calendar.
Donate Blood, Save Lives
Help make a difference by donating blood at the City of Rancho Cordova's community blood drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, at Rancho Cordova City Hall, 2729 Prospect Park Drive. Every donation can help patients receiving emergency care, undergoing surgery or receiving long-term medical treatment. Appointments are encouraged through Vitalant. Help Stock the Community Food Hub
Atlas Disposal’s Summer Food Drive continues through the end of July, with donation bins available at Rancho Cordova City Hall. The annual drive benefits the Rancho Cordova Community Food Hub, helping provide food for local children and families during the summer months when many students no longer have access to school meals. Donations of unopened, nonperishable items. including canned fruits and vegetables, soup, pasta, rice, cereal, peanut butter, canned proteins, shelf-stable milk and other pantry staples. are welcome. Please do not donate expired food, dented cans, glass containers or opened items.
Enjoy $5 Fridays at the Sacramento Children's Museum
Family fun doesn’t have to break the budget. Every Friday in July, admission to the Sacramento Children’s Museum is just $5 per person from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Visitors can enjoy hands-on exhibits, interactive play and daily pop-up activities. No registration is required, simply purchase admission at the front desk.
Share Your Transportation Priorities
Have ideas about transportation in Rancho Cordova? The Sacramento Transportation Authority is hosting a community listening session from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, in the American River South Room at Rancho Cordova City Hall, 2729 Prospect Park Drive.
The session will include an overview of how transportation projects are funded in Sacramento County, current challenges and opportunities, and small-group discussions where residents can share priorities and provide input on future transportation investments.
