RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - The Cordova Lady Lancers have had an up-and-down season thus far but certainly do not lack the confidence in themselves that they can right the ship.
Entering this week, the Lady Lancers have compiled a 4-12 overall record, including a 1-3 mark within Metro League play at press time. They’ve won just once in their past six contests overall, and scored just 25 total points during that time. However, according to head coach Kim Bradley, the team has maintained a positive attitude as they continue to learn the intricacies of the game.

"I think we're persevering and we're learning," Lady Lancers’ Head Coach Kim Bradley said. "We're still excited, we're still confident. It's just now about understanding the game. Teaching the game is hard when there's no experience for most of our girls."
Some of the teams' top players to this point have included seniors Keani Jones and Becca Lee, junior Keilani Takehara, sophomore Erica Banks and freshman Symiah Poole-Alston. Many players on the Cordova roster are learning to play multiple positions, some of whom are playing the game for the first time don't have a wealth of experience, so to see the team attack each practice and game with enthusiasm has stood out to their coach.

"They're eager to learn," Bradley said. "Nobody has dropped their head. They're still fighting. We have the athletes and the athleticism, but now it's just about developing the IQ of the game. That's our biggest flaw right now."
Despite recent struggles, the team finds itself one game back from both McClatchy and Antelope, who are tied for the third and final playoff spot in the Metro League. Cordova had an away game against Antelope this past Monday, Oct. 5, but results were not available at press time.
Additionally, the Lady Lancers travel to McClatchy on Tuesday, Oct. 13 in what could be a game with massive implications for the postseason. With kickoff scheduled for 5 p.m., all supporters are encouraged to attend and cheer on the team.
